"It comes through as energy, and I basically act as a radio, and I interpret what it is that's coming through to me. Well I look at somebody from the other side being the radio station and they project their signal to me and that is energy. That energy comes across to me and then I interpret what it is that I'm seeing, hearing, and feeling. So they communicate in an energy, for instance telepathy. So they kinda communicate with me, I interpret those symbols and then in my frame of reference I try to figure out what it means. So I pass on to the person, "I'm seeing this, I'm hearing this," and that's how the information comes across.

I don't look at this as a religious based thing. To me this is energy based.

Information comes through to me in 3 basic ways seen, hearing, and feeling the energy of the person that's crossed over. In which it is a symbolic type of language

I believe that when someone crosses over, regardless how we choose to define them (negative, positive) they are met by other friends, relatives, energies, help them understand the life and lessons they learned, the experiences they have shared with others and the feelings they've shared with others. Something that is known as a life review, something that everyone does when they pass.

I believe that before anybody makes the journey to the other side, we have to know on a soul level that we are leaving, whether it's an accident or illness, and we prepare ourselves to a certain degree that we won't be there in the future.

I prepare for every session the same way, meditate and pray the rosary.

Question: Once they cross, do they become all knowing as to what happened as they were dying?

JohnEdward: I believe that when somebody crosses over they are aware and have total knowledge of the experience, situation and people involved .

Question: if they have total knowledge of the experience, then why don't victims of crime find a way to inform authorities who were the responsible parties for their deaths?

JohnEdward: In my experience victims are more concerned with helping their families understand that they are still connected to them
In some rare experiences information comes through that helps understand what happened.

Question: Do you actually see a face or is it words and symbols?

JohnEdward: The process of receiving information for me is seeing, hearing, and feeling their energy in my frame of reference. That doesn't mean I see the individual, unfortunately.

Question: Where does the term "Crossing Over" come from?

JohnEdward: It's a metaphor obviously for the soul leaving the body and reaching the other side.

Question: Do you have to be in close proximity to the people you read?

JohnEdward: I don't need to be physically near them.
Much of my work I've done over years has been on the radio connected by phone.
And this next season on Crossing Over you will see us reaching out to viewers in the same manner.

Question: how do you not get emotional when the people you are reading are always crying?

JohnEdward: I know that I have only a small window of time to deliver a message.
And I get into a zone of "Just deliver the information".
But when I'm watching the show, as a viewer, then it's very emotional to me.

Question: It seems that when you are ready to begin a session, you take a step back, take a deep breath and rub your hands together? Does this do something for you or is it just a ritual thing you do when beginning a gallery session?

JohnEdward: I think it's a combination of both.
My preparation is always mediation and deep breathing.
And the rubbing of my hands together just gets my energy going.

Question: For people that have had similiar experiences how do you further develope the ability to connect with those that have passed ?

JohnEdward: Keep a journal, and learn how to see how you as an individuals sees information so you can learn your own sign language.
Meditate and practice psychic self defense and surrounding yourself with prayer

Question: John how is it only good news comes through?

JohnEdward: I disagree with that. I think that the majority of messages are validating messages to confirm the survival of conscious.
And many times that validation message is negative or sad

Question: Can a normal person contact the other side?

JohnEdward: What do you mean can "normal" people contact :) Seriously, I believe that everybody can make contact. It's a matter of paying attention to the energies that are around you.
Some people have a great talent, but I think the gift is the energy from the other side that's received by a normal individual who can create a circle of acceptance. That is a gift to me.
