Chapter 13

! And as Jesus left from the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Teacher; behold; see these stones, and these structures
. And Jesus said to him: Do you admire these great structures ? There will not be left here even one stone standing upon another
: And as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, facing the temple, Kephas and James and John and Andrew asked him, privately
? Tell us, when will this occur ? And what will be the sign that all this is coming to an end
: And Jesus began to say to them Beware, let no one mislead you
. for many will come in my name, and will say: I am he. And they will lead many astray
. But when you shall hear of wars, and the threats of war, be not afraid; for this bound to happen; but the end is not yet
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in several places, and there will be famines and riots. These are the but the onset of sorrows
And take heed to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to the courts; and you will be beaten in the synagogues, and you will stand before kings and governors, to testify to your faith to them
. Proclaim first my gospel among all the nations
And when they shall lead you to hand you over, be not worried beforehand what you shall say, neither dwell on it; but, that which shall be given you at that moment, speak; for it is not you that speaks, but the Holy Spirit
. And brother will hand over his brother to death, and the father his son; and children will rise up against their parents, and will kill them
. And you will be hated by every man, on account of my name. But whoever shall endure to the end, shall live
And when you see the abominable sign of destruction, standing where it ought not; as mentioned by Daniel the prophet (let him that reads, understand;) then let those that are in Judaea, escape to the mountain
: and let him that is on the roof not come down, and enter his house, to take any thing from it
. and let him that is in the field not return, to take his clothing
! But, woe to those with child, and to those who nurse child, in those days
. And pray, that none of it be in winter
. For in those times will be tribulation, such as has not been from the first of creation that God made, until now, and shall not be
. And, unless God should shorten those days, nobody would be saved. But, on account of the those he has chosen, he has shortened those days
. Then, if anyone shall say to you: Look, here is Messiah, or look there; do not believe it
. For false Messiahs will arise, and false prophets; and they will give signs and miracles; and will deceive even the chosen if they can
. But take you heed. I have told you everything beforehand
; And in those times, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened; and the moon will not give light
. and the stars will fall from heaven; and the powers of heaven will be shaken
. And they will then see the Son of Man coming in the clouds, with great power and glory
And then will he send forth his angels, and will gather his chosen from the four winds, from the ends of earth to the far reaches of heaven
. And, learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its twigs are tender, and its leaves bud forth, you know that summer approaches
. So also, when you shall see these happenings, you will know, that it is near, at the door
. Truly I say to you, That this generation shall not pass away, until all these things unfold
. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away
. But of that day and that hour, knows no man; nor the angels of heaven; neither the Son, but by the Father
. Take heed, watch, and pray; for you know not what the time is to be
For it is as a man, who took a journey, and left his home; and he gave authority to his servants, and to each his service; and he ordered the gatekeeper to be watchful
Watch you, therefore; for you know not when the master of the house comes; at evening, or at midnight, or when the cock crows, or in the morning
. let he not come suddenly, and find you sleeping
. And what I say to you, I say to all of you: Be watchful

Chapter 14

And after two days, was the Passover of unleavened loaves. And the high priests and the scribes schemed how they might take him, and kill him
. But they said: Not on the festival, or there maybe riot among the people
And when he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leperous, as he sat, a woman came having an alabaster flask of costly ointment of pistachio, and she opened and poured it upon the head of Jesus
? And there were certain of the disciples, who were upset among themselves, and said: Why for was this waste of the ointment
. For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and then given to the poor. And they were indignant at her
. But Jesus said: Leave her alone; why do you trouble her ? She has done a goodly act towards me
For the poor you will have with you always; and when you want, you can make them kind offerings: but I am not always to be with you
. What was in her power, she has done; and by anticipation as if for burial, has perfumed my body
Truly I say to you, That wherever this gospel of mine shall be proclaimed, in all the world, this also, which she has done, will be told in memory of her
. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the high priests, in order to betray Jesus to them
. And when they heard him, they were jubilant; and they promised to give him money. And he awaited an opportunity to betray him
And on the first day of unleavened loaves, on which the Jews slay the Passover, his disciples said to him: Where do you want that we go, and prepare for you to eat the Passover
, And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them:  Go to the city, and look, for there will meet you a man carrying a water jar. Follow him
? and where he enters in, say you to the master of the house: Our Master said, Where is the room for guests, in which I may eat the Passover with my disciples
. And he will show you a large upper room, furnished and all in order: there make it ready for us
. And his disciples went, and entered the city, and found it as he had told them: and they made it ready for the Passover
. And when it was evening, he arrived with his twelve
. And as they sat and ate, Jesus said: Truly I say to you, That one of you that eats with me, will betray me
? And they began to be worried. And they said to him, one by one, surely it is not I
. And he said to them: It is one of the twelve that dips with me in the dish
And the Son of Man goes there as it is written of him: but woe to that man, by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. Better would it have been for that man if he had not ever been born
. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it , and gave it to them, and said to them: Take; for this is my body
. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and blessed it, and gave it to them. And they all drank of it
. And he said to them: This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed on behalf of the many
. Truly I say to you, That I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine, until the day on which I shall drink it anew in the Realm of God
. And they sang praise, and walk out to the mount of Olives
" And Jesus said to them: This night all of you will be shaken in faith for me: for it is written, " I will strike the shepherd, and his sheep will be dispersed.
. And when I am risen, I will go to Galilee ahead of you
. And Kephas said to him: Though they all should be shaken in faith, yet I will not be
. Jesus said to him: Truly I say to you, That this day, on this night, before the cock shall crow twice, you will three times deny me
. And he said, adding more: If I have to die with you, I will not deny you, my Lord. And all the disciples said the same
. And they came to the place called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, Sit down here, while I pray
. And he took with him Kephas and James and John, and who began to be fearful and distressed
. And he said to them: My soul has sorrow enough for death. Wait for me here, and be watchful
. And he advanced a little, and fell upon the ground, and prayed if it were possible, that the hour might pass from him
. And he said: Father, my Father, you can do all things. Let this cup pass from me. Yet not my will, but may yours be done
? And he came and found them sleeping. And he said to Kephas: Asleep, Simon ? Could you not watch with me even one hour
. Watch and pray, not that you be put to test. The spirit is willing and ready, but nature is weak
. And he went again and prayed, speaking the same words
. And returning he came again and found them asleep, for their eyes were heavy. And they knew not what to say to him
And he came the third time, and said to them: Sleep now, and take rest. The end is near, the hour has come, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of men
. Awake ! Let us go. Look, he that betrays me is at hand
And while he was yet speaking, Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, arrived at the head of many people with swords and clubs, sent by the high priests and scribes and elders
And the traitor who betrayed him, had given them a sign, and said: He whom I shall kiss is the man. Arrest him then, and lead him away
. And then he came up, and said to him: Master, Master; and kissed him
. And they laid hands on him and took him
. And one of them that stood by, drew a sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear
? And Jesus answered and said to them:  Have you come out against me, as against a robber; with swords and clubs, to arrest me
. I was with you daily, while I taught in the temple, and you did not arrest me. But this happens, that the scriptures may be fulfilled
. Then his disciples were left there and fled
. And a young man followed after him, who was clad with but a linen cloth: and they laid hold of him
. And he left the linen cloth there, and fled naked
. And they led away Jesus to Caiaphas the high priest. And with him were gathered all the high priests and the scribes and the elders
. And Simon followed after him, from a distance; into the hall of the high priest; and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself by a fire
. And the high priests and all the assembly solicited testimony against Jesus, to put him to death: but they did not find any
. For while many testified against him, their testimonies did not agree
: And some false witnesses stood up against him, and said
. We have heard him say: I will destroy this temple, which is made of hands; and in three days I will construct another not from of hands
. Nor even then were their testimonies in agreement
? And the high priest got up in their midst, and questioned Jesus and said: Have you no answer to what these testify against you
? And Jesus remained silent, and gave no reply. And again the high priest questioned him, and said: Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed
. And Jesus said to him: I am. And you will see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and he will come with the clouds of heaven
? And the high priest tore his robes, and said: What need of witnesses have we, any more
. Behold, from his own mouth you have heard the blasphemy. How does it appear to you? And they all concurred, that he deserved to die
. And some began to spit in his face, and blindfolded him, saying: Play the prophet. And the servants struck him on the cheeks
, And as Simon was below in the court, a servant maid of the high priest came
. and saw him warming himself; and she looked upon him, and said to him: You, too, were with Jesus the Nazarene
. But he denied, and said: l know not what you say. And he went out into the gateway; and the cock crowed
. And the servant maid saw him again, and she began to say to those standing by, This man is also one of them
. And he again denied it. And a little later, those standing there again said to Kephas: Surely, you are one of them; for you are also a Galilean, and your accent shows it
.And he began to curse, and swore: I know not that man, of whom you speak
And immediately the cock crowed the second time. And Simon remembered the prediction of Jesus, who said to him: Before the cock shall crow twice, you will three times deny me. And he began to weep

Chapter 15

As soon as it was morning, the high priests with the elders and the scribes, and all the Sanhedrin, reached a decision. And they bound Jesus, and led him away, and handed him over to Pilate
. And Pilate asked him: Are you the king of the Jews ? He replied and said to him: You have said it
. And the high priests accused him of many things
! And Pilate again questioned him, and said to him: Make you no reply ? See how much they accuse you
. But Jesus gave no answer; so that Pilate was left with wonder
. And it was his custom, at each festival, to release one prisoner to them, whom they might want
. And there was one named Barabbas, who was confined with the rebels of sedition, who had committed murder in the riot
. And the people came up and began to demand, that he should honor the custom
? And Pilate answered, and said: Do you want I release to you the king of the Jews
. For Pilate knew that the high priests, from envy, had handed him up
. But the high priests further incited the crowds, that Barabbas should be released to them
? And Pilate said to them: What do you want, therefore, that I do to him who you call king of the Jews
! And they again shout out: Crucify him
! And Pilate said to them: But what evil has he done ? And they shouted out louder: Crucify him
And Pilate was willing to grant the wishes of the crowds; and he released to them Barabbas; and, having scourged Jesus, he handed him over to them to be crucified
And the soldiers now led him into the hall which was called the Praetorium ; as they gathered together the whole regiment
; and they dressed him in purple, and made a crown of thorns and put it upon him
" and began to salute him saying, " Hail, king of the Jews !
. And they struck him on the head with a reed and spit in his face, and bowed upon their knees and did homage him
. And having mocked him, they took from him the purple and clothed him in his own clothes, and led him away to crucify him
. And they made a passer-by, Simon the Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, who was coming in from the fields, to bear his cross
. And they brought him to Gagulta, the place which name means a Skull
. And they tried to give him wine to drink in which myrrh was mixed; and he would not accept it
. And when they had crucified him, they divided his clothes; and cast lots upon them, for what each should take
. And it was the third hour when they crucified him
. And the proclamation of his death offense was written in the inscription: This Is The King Of The Jews
. And they crucified with him two thieves, the one on his right, and the other on his left
. And the scripture was fulfilled which said: He was accounted among the criminal
And they that passed by also reviled him; and, shaking their heads, they said: Aha!, you that would destroy the temple and build it in three days
. save yourself, and come down from the cross
. And so also the high priests, jeered with one another, and the scribes, said: He saved others, but he cannot save himself
Let Messiah, the king of the Jews, now come down from the cross, that we may see it and believe in him. And those who were crucified with him also taunted him
. And when noon came, there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour
? And at that time, Jesus cried with a loud voice, and said: Eel, Eel, lmana shvaktani; that is: My God, my God, why have you left me
. And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said: He calls for Elijah
And one ran and filled a sponge with vinegar, and tied it on a reed, to offer him drink. And they said: Now let us see if Elijah will come to take him down
. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and he died
. And the curtain of the sanctuary in the temple was torn, from the top to bottom
. And when the centurion, who was standing near him, seeing that manner of his death, he said: Truly, this was the Son of God
; And there were women watching from a distance, Mary Magdalena, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joseh, and Salome
. who, when he was in Galilee stuck close by him, and attended to him; and many other women, who had come up with him to Jerusalem
, And, as it was the eve of preparation day, which precedes the Sabbath
Joseph of Ramtha, an honorable member of the Sanhedrin, also himself waited for the kingdom of God, came, and taking courage, went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus
. And Pilate was surprised that he should have died so soon. And he called the centurion, and inquired if he already was dead
. And when he learned of it, he released the body to Joseph
And Joseph bought clean linen, and took it down, and wrapped it in the linen, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn from rock, and rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb
. And Mary Magdalena and Mary ,the mother, of Joseh saw where he had been laid

. And when the Sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalena, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought aromatic oils to anoint him with
. And in the dawn of the first day of the week, they came to the tomb as the sun rose
? And they said among themselves: Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb
. And they looked, and saw that the stone was rolled away; for it was very large
. And entering the tomb, they saw a youth sitting at the side, and clothed in a white robe: and they were astonished
. But he said to them: Be not amazed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He is risen; he is not here. See the place where he was laid
. But go, tell his disciples and Kephas: He goes ahead of you to Galilee; there will you see him just as he told to you
And when they heard that, they fled and left the tomb bewildered and trembling; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were in great fear
. And he arose in the morning of the first day of the week; and he first appeared to Mary Magdalena, from whom he had expelled seven demons
. And she went and told them that she had seen him, while they mourned and wept
. And when they heard it said that he was alive, and that he had appeared to them, they did not believe them

. And these came and told the rest; but they still would not believe them
And at last, he revealed himself to the eleven: as they sat at the table; and he showed their lack of faith, and stubbornness; because they did not believe those who had seen him risen
. And he said to them: Go into all the world, and proclaim my Gospel to all creation
. He that believes, and is baptized, lives; but he that does not believe, is condemned
. And these signs shall attend those that believe: In my name, they will expel demons; and in new languages they will speak
And they will be able to handle serpents *, and if they drink a deadly poison, no harm will come to them; and they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be healed
. And Jesus, our Lord, after speaking to them, ascended to heaven, and took his seat at the right hand of God

. And they went forth, and preached everywhere: and our Lord helped them, and confirmed their message by the signs which they worked
